| Per Diem Educator
The Prospect Park Alliance is seeking a Per Diem Educator to help present school and public programs at Lefferts Historic House. The Per Diem Educator will work with other Lefferts staff members to deliver programs that are accessible to the museum’s primary audience of children, families, and educators from Brooklyn. The Per Diem Educator will also occasionally work during public hours to greet visitors, lead tours of the house’s upstairs, and also assist during special events. The position is on an “as-needed” basis. Pay is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications for the Per Diem Educator position include excellent presentation and communication skills, familiarity with historic preservation and museum education theories and practice, strong interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in Brooklyn and New York City history.
Successful candidates will have experience working with children in a classroom, museum, or other informal educational setting, an imaginative, and a flexible approach to teaching. Please be advised there is some lifting and physical labor involved in this position.
