Teacher Naturalists

The Prospect Park Alliance, working in partnership with City of New York and the community, restores, develops, and operates Prospect Park for the enjoyment of all by caring for the natural environment, preserving historic design, and serving the public through facilities and programs. Prospect Park is Brooklyn’s 585-acre historic flagship park, designed by the famed Olmsted and Vaux. It is the home of Brooklyn’s only lake and forest, with nature trails, numerous recreational activities, public and school-based educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and the first urban Audubon Center.

The Prospect Park Audubon Center is currently seeking applicants for part-time Teacher Naturalists during public open hours. Public hours are weekdays and weekends Thursday through Sunday, from 12:00pm until 5:00 or 6:00pm, within a rotation of other Teacher Naturalists.

Duties of the Teacher Naturalists are implementing hands-on science programming for children and their families, including facilitation of science programs and leading nature tours. The Teacher Naturalist positions run throughout the year.

Candidates for this position must have a background in environmental studies, and/or related sciences or education. The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.

The Prospect Park Alliance is an equal opportunity employer. To apply, please email your resume and cover letter to job114@prospectpark.org. Please, no phone calls. Although we appreciate your interest, we will only contact applicants we are considering for interview. This position requires a background check and fingerprinting through the Department of Education.
