Special Events Per Diem
The Prospect Park Alliance, working in partnership with City of New York and the community, restores, develops, and operates Prospect Park for the enjoyment of all by caring for the natural environment, preserving historic design, and serving the public through facilities and programs. Prospect Park is Brooklyn’s 585-acre historic flagship park, designed by the famed Olmsted and Vaux. It is the home of Brooklyn’s only lake and forest, with nature trails, numerous recreational activities, public and school-based educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and the first urban Audubon Center.
The Prospect Park Alliance is seeking candidates to be part of a pool of per diem, temporary employees to work various special events throughout the year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following for both large and small events at Prospect Park: crowd and traffic control; providing security; ensuring organizers are adhering to Park rules and regulations; etc. These per diem staff members will ensure that events run smoothly under the guidance of the Special Events Supervisors.
Candidates for the pool must be flexible with their time schedules and be available nights and weekends as needed. Punctuality is an absolute must, as is the ability to communicate with the public. The ability and willingness to stand for long periods of time and work outside in all weather conditions is a must. Ideal candidates will have solid customer service and problem-solving skills and be able to think on their feet.
The pay for these positions is $10 an hour.
