Celebrate Brooklyn! Season begins June 12, 8 p.m. with Isaac Hayes

It’s time to celebrate summer with Celebrate Brooklyn! This year marks the 30th anniversary of the borough’s best showcase of music, dance, film and theater. Running from June 12 – August 9, Celebrate Brooklyn’s season will feature 25 free performances – all at the Bandshell. Performances are most Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Read more >
Metropolitan Opera Friday, June 20, 8 p.m.

People from all five boroughs are expected to converge upon Prospect Park’s Long Meadow Ballfields for what will likely go down in history as one of the Metropolitan Opera’s biggest outdoor concerts ever. The Met will only play one Park concert in 2008: Brooklyn's Prospect Park! This historic concert will feature soprano Angela Gheorghiu and tenor Roberto Alagna – two of opera’s biggest stars, together on the same stage. Rain date June 21. Sponsored by Bank of America. Twilight Tours Selected summer Thursdays, 7 p.m. June 19, 26 • July 3, 10, 31 • August 7, 14, 21, 28

Enjoy a romantic evening of wine and cheese on the charming Boathouse balcony, and then tour the Park’s majestic Lullwater on our electric boat Independence. Father's Day in the Park Sunday, June 15

Stop by Prospect Park on Father’s Day for a bevy of activities - for kids and their dads!
• Make a Father’s Day card out of recycled materials at the Audubon Center from 1 to 3 p.m. Ride the electric boat Independence to learn about the animals of the Lullwater and all of their fatherly responsibilities. Read more >
• Lloyd Miller of the Deedle Deedle Dees is back at Lefferts Historic House with his unique brand of traditional tunes, starting at 3 p.m. Serenade dad on his day, then treat him to a sample of 18th-century Dutch-style coleslaw that kids can help to prepare. Read more >
• The Carousel and pedal boats will also both be open from 12 – 6 p.m on Father’s Day!
