Independence Weekend We're open on July 4! The Prospect Park Audubon Center, historic 1912 Carousel, Lefferts Historic House, Parade Ground, pedal boats, and barbecues are all open for the 4th of July.
Declare Independence! From 1 - 4 p.m. at Lefferts Historic House on July 4, make a plumed hat and sign a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen. Read more >

Macy's Fishing Contest July 16 - 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Audubon Center

The R.H. Macy’s Fishing Contest has been a tradition in Brooklyn since 1947. Held at the Audubon Center, thousands of kids learn about fishing and aquatic ecology at the contest each year. The contest is open to children ages 15 and under. Equipment is provided and instructors are on site to help. Prizes are given out daily! Individuals may sign up at the contest Registration for large groups is now closed; call (718) 287-3400 x114 to inquire about placement on a waiting list. Fish of Our Waters • July 19 & 20, 2:30 p.m. Sheepshead porgies were once so common along our shores that Sheepshead Bay is named for them. Learn to clean, dress, and cook these fish at Lefferts Historic House. Free. Read more >
NY Philharmonic & Fireworks Monday, July 14, 8 p.m., at the Long Meadow Ballfields

Settle in under the night sky at the Long Meadow Ballfields with the New York Philharmonic for an evening of great classical music. The program will include Mozart’s Divertimento in D major, K.125a; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4; and Sibelius’ Finlandia. Alan Gilbert will conduct; Sheryl Staples and Michelle Kim will be featured on violin. A fireworks display caps off the evening in style! Park concessions will be on hand, selling hot dogs, ice cream, and other great summertime refreshments. Free. Read more >
Summer Soiree Thursday, July 24, 7:30 p.m., at the Boathouse

Come join the Junior Committee for its annual cocktail party, featuring drinks, hors d’oeuvres, music, dancing, electric boat rides, and a silent auction. Storytelling Programs Weekends at Imagination Playground

Daydream Saturdays at 11 a.m.: July 5, 12, 19 Sundays at 3 p.m.: July 6, 13, 20 PLG Arts performs a shortened version of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" at Imagination Playground for kids of all ages - complete with magic, puppets, hard hats, and safety vests. Free. Read more >
Ezra Jack Keats Story Hour Every Saturday in July & August, 2 p.m. Children of Brooklyn are treated to free storytelling all summer long on Saturday afternoons at Imagination Playground. Funded by the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation, this series has become a traditional part of summers in Prospect Park. Read more >
