| A Natural Classroom
Prospect Park is Brooklyn's largest natural classroom: a magnificent and varied collection of living environments. The new Lakeside Center will place a new focus on the Park’s long tradition of education and environmental stewardship, and will provide new opportunities for teaching and learning about nature and the environment with an even greater focus on aquatic ecology.
The Lakeside Center will join two of Brooklyn’s premier educational facilities — Lefferts Historic House and the Prospect Park Audubon Center at the Boathouse, which serve over 100,000 visitors each year. Lakeside will serve as a vital learning lab, providing students and educators with direct access to the diverse array of wildlife of Brooklyn's only freshwater lake. Talented, dedicated Park educators will provide guided explorations of the lake shore to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Students from the Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment . Lakeside will provide new dedicated educational classroom space and direct access to the thriving natural habitat of Prospect Lake
Pending funding, construction on Lakeside is expected to begin in 2009 and be completed by late 2011. If you are interested in supporting Lakeside at Prospect Park, please contact Caledonia Kearns at (718) 965-8985 or via email. |
