So Much for So Many

Picnic area in front of the new Lakeside Center

Lakeside addresses urgent community needs:

• Brooklyn has the lowest ratio of green
space to resident in the nation

• Apartment dwelling Brooklynites rely on
  Prospect Park for recreation and
relaxation – it is their back yard

• Many neighborhoods surrounding
Prospect Park are among the borough’s
  most economically disadvantaged

• The ice skating rink currently serves
fewer than 2% of the Park’s visitors due
  to seasonal and structural limitations

Lakeside will provide:

• A longer ice skating season with two
new rinks, one open and one covered

• A roller skating rink in Prospect Park for
  the first time

• Three additional acres of green space

• A redesigned Park entrance that
  reduces vehicular traffic and improves
  pedestrian safety

• New spaces for environmental learning
