Behind the Fence, Summer 2012
Construction on the Lakeside facility, which includes a North and East Building and a covered and an open-air rink, continues to progress and is 50% complete. The foundation for the curved wall, which will also serve as a pathway to the entrance for the Lakeside Center, has just been poured.
In May 2012, Music Island – part of Olmsted and Vaux’s original design for Prospect Park and buried under the old Wollman Rink – became an island once again. Music Island and the restoration of Lakeshore were made possible by a generous gift from the Leon Levy Foundation.

Lakeside is expected to open in fall 2013. We hope you return here for more news and updates. If you are interested in learning more about the Campaign for Lakeside, please contact Caledonia Kearns at ckearns@prospectpark.org.
