 Lakeside in Winter
| |
The new Lakeside Center will serve Brooklyn residents with:
Two ice skating rinks providing 30,000 square feet of surface |
Warm weather activities such as roller skating and water play |
15,000 square feet of viewing terraces |
A new boat dock for pedal boat rentals and electric boat tours |
A café and seating area open all year round |
A nearby parking area for visitors |
A new promenade along the lakeshore for walkers and joggers |
Expanded picnic areas, walkways, and open lawns | |
Lakeside will be a year-round destination for recreation, relaxation, and events.
Although highly popular, the current ice skating rink at Prospect Park serves fewer than 2% of the annual visitors to the Park – all concentrated in the coldest winter months. During the rest of the year, the area is at best unusable and at worst an eyesore.
The Campaign for Lakeside seeks to address these limitations. Whether it’s the addition of roller skating or the water features, the outdoor café or the extra green space, Lakeside will be available to the community day and night year round.
