Close to 650 Prospect Park lovers came together at our Prospect Park Anniversary Ball. This year, we had two very special milestones to celebrate: the 25th Anniversary of the Prospect Park Alliance and the 100th Birthday of our very own Carousel. It has been a difficult few weeks throughout the New York City area, and Prospect Park has certainly been affected by the storms, with hundreds of trees lost to storms as well as other damage throughout our 585 acres. We were happy that so many were able to join us to help celebrate, as well as to raise additional funds to repair damage done by the storm.
We were honored to recognize so many wonderful people this year, all of whom have done so much for Prospect Park and for New York City. Matilda Raffa Cuomo, Former First Lady of New York State, received our first ever Brooklyn Hero Award, while Gina Ingoglia Weiner and Dany Cunningham were recognized with the Wilbur A. Levin Award and James S.T. Stranahan Award, respectively. We were also thrilled to honor Adrian Benepe, Jorge Juantorena, and Ellen Salpeter as part of this wonderful event.
Even after the program, the party didn’t stop! We hosted the Anniversary After Party for coffee, dessert, dancing – and even more Carousel rides.
It was a wonderful chance to celebrate our community and our Park – and a wonderful way to raise much-needed funds. We thank all of our friends and supporters for a truly magical evening.
