Tennis, Everyone!
On Thursday, April 17, 2008, over 100 guests gathered in celebration and support of the Prospect Park Tennis Center and the Junior Development Fund. It was a wonderful evening, featuring great music by Midnight Larry and a delicious dinner by Brenton Catering.
Marty Markowitz presented Jay Green with a proclamation recognizing his 40 years as a teacher at the Parade Ground Tennis Courts, as well as his over 25 years organizing the Singles League. Jay has truly been instrumental in the growth of Prospect Park's vibrant community of tennis players.
Nina Sporn spoke about her work with the Special Aces program, which the Prospect Park Tennis Center will expand this year to include 3 sessions over the 2008-09 indoor season.
Finally, Iesha Reid was announced as the recipient of the Tennis Center's 2008 Martinez Scholarship. The Martinez Scholarship is given annually to a local tennis player with great promise who will benefit from additional court time in the hopes of bringing his or her game to the next level.
Junior Development Fund
Donations can now be made directly to the Prospect Park Tennis Center's Junior Development Fund. Your support will help ensure that more deserving young tennis players can enjoy the Prospect Park Tennis Center, regardless of need. Click here to donate now!
