Walk-a-thon 2011: Thank you!

On Sunday, September 18, close to 300 Prospect Park lovers gathered at 10 a.m. for the second Annual Walk for Prospect Park. It was a beautiful, sunny fall morning – perfect for a stroll around Brooklyn’s flagship park. After a rousing send off from Borough President Marty Markowitz, walkers grabbed some water – supplied by our Lead Sponsor, Flat Rate Moving – and headed off to stroll around the loop of Prospect Park’s inner drive. At the end of their walk, they were greeted with cheers and bagels, before heading off to enjoy the rest of their Sunday (many to the monthly Food Truck Rally at Grand Army Plaza.)
We are excited to announce that we met our match! So far, the Walk for Prospect Park has raised more than $25,000 to help Prospect Park recover from Hurricane Irene, and to assist with maintenance throughout the Park. Thanks to the Brooklyn Community Foundation, who is matching that $25,000 with $25,000 of their own. Interested in giving a gift to assist with the recovery efforts? There’s still time! You can sponsor a friend, or give a general donation to the Park.
Thanks so much to everyone who walked – and everyone who sponsored our walkers! In addition, thanks to Flat Rate Moving, our Lead Sponsor, The Flatbush Food Co-op, our Sunday Stroller Sponsor, and La Bagel Delight and Modell’s, our event sponsors.

Thanks to our Sponsors!
