The Park entrance at Bartel-Pritchard Circle (Prospect Park West at Prospect Park Southwest) is marked by two large acanthus-styled granite columns. Designed by Stanford White in 1906, the columns were modeled after the Acanthus Column of Delphi, which date from the beginning of the 4th century B.C. The circle at Bartel-Pritchard was named after World War I heroes Emil Bartel and William J. Pritchard.
