| Playground Committee
Prospect Park’s seven playgrounds are vital open play spaces for the more than 60,000 school-aged children who live within one mile of the Park, and for thousands of others throughout the borough. In New York’s densely populated urban environment, playgrounds are nothing short of essential for childhood development. With each playground, Prospect Park offers a fun, stimulating environment in which children can engage in healthy physical activity and imaginative play.

In 2004, the Playground Committee was formed when concerned parents joined with the Prospect Park Alliance to support the Park’s dynamic playgrounds. The Committee works to raise funds for and awareness of these crucial recreation areas. To date, the Committee has raised more than $100,000 to ensure that these spaces receive diligent maintenance and enhanced programming, and has called on elected officials to provide public funding to keep the playgrounds welcoming and available for generations to come.
Party for Playgrounds
At the 2008 Party for Playgrounds, over 300 guests gathered to celebrate the Park's amazing, imaginative outdoor play spaces at the historic Boathouse.
