IshamelWhen representatives from the Park went to Ishamel's high school to talk about our Youth Rep program, Ishamel decided to get involved.

Ishamel works at the Audubon Center helping visitors with their questions, explaining exhibits, selling boat tickets, and helping kids with nature crafts. When asked about what he likes best about the Park, Ishamel replied, "What I like best about the Park is that it is a place to get away from the craziness of Brooklyn, a place for peace and quiet, a place to hang out with friends outdoors instead of playing video games." He has always been a fan of the outdoors, whether, "It is playing sports, hanging with my friends..." Ishamel was a natural fit for our Youth Rep program.

When asked what he has learned most since being at the Park, Ishamel replied, "The life lesson I learned was always be true to who you are... Be yourself."  We couldn't agree more.  Ishamel plans to attend college and become an engineer.
