Winter Corps

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Wednesday from December 6 – February 28  for a special winter work session at our Winter Corps. Volunteers will assist in raking, minor shoveling, litter pick up, and other landscaping needs. The group meets at a different location every week. All volunteers who RSVP will receive a reminder email with the meeting location before the event.

Appropriate for adults only. Keep an eye out for last minute cancellations due to winter weather advisories, such as low temps and heavy snowfall.

Wednesday Greenmarket at Bartel-Pritchard Square

The Wednesday Greenmarket at Bartel-Pritchard Square is open from 8 am–2 pm, year-round. Nestled inside Prospect Park’s tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved market is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods.

CANCELLED—Prospect Park Alliance Winter Corps

NOTICE: Prospect Park Alliance is working closely with NYC Parks and other city agencies to monitor developments related to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, patrons and entire community is our top priority.

As part of this effort, Prospect Park Alliance will be cancelling the last two weeks of the Wednesday Winter Corps. For those who participated, thank you for dedicating your time to the Park and we will remain in touch with you as our plans for upcoming Volunteer opportunities evolve.

Prospect Park Alliance Wednesday Woodland Corps

Interested volunteers must first attend at least one “Wednesday Woodland Corps- Introductory Session” after which you will have permission to register for any Wednesday Woodland Corps 2019 event. All introductory sessions are open to all approved volunteers and pre-authorized Wednesday Woodland Corps volunteers.

Join a small crew of committed volunteers who care for Prospect Park’s  woodlands. All tasks are focused in and around our natural areas, and include fence installation & maintenance, erosion control, invasive plant removal, mulching, path edging/ sweeping, removal of wooden structures, litter removal, and more!

Wednesday Woodland Corps

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Wednesday for the Wednesday Woodland Corps, a dedicated team of volunteers who care for the park’s 250 acres of forest. The Woodland Corps assist with fence repair + maintenance, woodland trash pickup, invasive plant removal, planting, mulching, and other woodland related tasks.

Please note: Volunteers must attend a Wednesday Woodland Corps Introduction Session, which will take place on the first Wednesday of each month. Those who have attended an Introductory Session may attend additional Wednesday Woodland Corps events throughout each month.

A Summer Movie Under the Stars

In celebration of Prospect Park’s 150th anniversary, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams and Prospect Park Alliance present A Summer Movie Under the Stars in partnership with Brooklyn’s Nitehawk Cinema

These free outdoor film screenings on Prospect Park’s Long Meadow North will feature live musical entertainment followed by family-friendly films carefully selected by Nitehawk’s cinema department, to highlight park themes such as the famed Prospect Park Zoo, summer camps, Little League Baseball and the exquisite flora and fauna.

The full line-up is as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 19: The NeverEnding Story with 1980s music by DJ Jane Elizabeth
  • Wednesday, July 26: The Sandlot with live entertainment by The Binky Griptite Orchestra
  • Wednesday, August 2: Moonrise Kingdom with live entertainment by Morricone Youth
  • Wednesday, August 9: Zootopia, with live entertainment by Brooklyn United Marching Band

All live entertainment will start at 7 pm and films begin shortly after sundown. There are no rain dates in the event of inclement weather. A Summer Movie Under the Stars is made possible with additional support from HBO and Investors Bank.

KIDtivity Wednesdays with Creative Kitchen

Cook up delicious recipes and have fun with kitchen crafts, fun food stories and song. 

Free with advance registration. Geared towards children ages 2-5.

Blending fitness, fun, crafts and cooking, Lakeside’s KIDtivity is the perfect summer treat. The free program runs every Wednesday from 11 am to 6 pm. Reservations are strongly encourages.

Shape-Up NYC: Glutes in Gear

Focus on your lower half in this belly busting, booty shaping, two-part class. The first part builds endurance with heart-pumping cardio. Part two uses mat work to build your core and flatten and tighten your abs and glutes. Please bring your own workout mat.
