Prospect Park Alliance Honors Doug Steiner at 2017 Gala
On September 23, 2017, Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit organization that takes care of Prospect Park, honored Doug Steiner of Steiner Studios and celebrated the 30th anniversary of its founding at the annual Prospect Park Alliance Gala. The event, which took place in Prospect Park, raised more than $850,000 for the Alliance's work to sustain, restore and advance the Park for the diverse communities that consider it "Brooklyn's Backyard."

Said Steiner during his remarks, “I love being a Brooklynite… in larger part because of the diversity of brilliant, interesting, creative, progressive and socially conscious people that call Brooklyn home. There is a generosity of spirit, civic pride and feistiness that is uniquely Brooklyn.”
Said Steiner: “Prospect Park is considered Frederick Law Olmsted’s greatest work. Yet thirty years ago, Prospect Park was a poster child of benign neglect. In 1979, there were only 2 million visits. Last year, there were 10 million visits. It’s a playground, a stunning refuge, a backyard and an oasis for everyone. The rebirth of Prospect Park is solely because of the vision and dedication of Prospect Park Alliance: its board, staff and supporters.”

The Gala, which took place in Prospect Park at Bartel Pritchard Square, welcomed over 400 revelers who enjoyed the musical stylings of DJ Suga Ray, food and drink by Great Performances and floral arrangements by Tinsel & Twine. Live and silent auctions raised a combined total of nearly $175,000.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray spoke at the Gala, praising the Alliance’s contributions, and reminding attendees that their nuptials took place in Prospect Park.
