Construction Inspector

Prospect Park Alliance, whose work in historic preservation and park revitalization is nationally recognized, has an opening in its department of Design and Construction.  We are a small and busy office of professionals who are responsible for the design and construction supervision of all capital projects in Prospect Park. We currently have a variety of projects including continuation of our restoration of our ball fields, construction of an adult fitness area, reconstruction of our Flatbush Avenue perimeter sidewalk, interior Park paths as well as future construction of two new entrances into the Park and a senior fitness area. We are looking for a creative mind who is willing to work (in sometimes unusual conditions), and is eager to be part of one of the most exciting Park renovations in the country.

Reporting to the Vice President for Capital and Landscape Management, the Construction Inspector will be responsible for coordinating between NYC Parks Brooklyn Construction Division and the Alliance Design & Construction team, as well as work with the design team on larger scale projects.  The position requires proficiency in CAD, strong written/verbal skills, organizational skills and a real commitment to historic preservation. The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of current best construction practices and the ability to take stock of a situation and determine a fair course of action.  A sense of humor helps.

  • Oversee and coordinate daily project construction, including site inspections, quality control, completing reports and reviewing contractor payments.
  • Coordinate with Parks Brooklyn Construction Supervisor
  • Project liaison between other city agencies as required

  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
