Development Intern

Do you have a passion for learning and research? Join the Development Team during the Spring 2019 semester!

Interns at the Alliance are driven, innovative, and eager to gain knowledge. They observe, listen, showcase their talents, and build out ideas accordingly. They learn to anticipate the needs and concerns of team members so they can come up with amazing ideas and solutions. They are confident in their abilities, have a sense of humor, and treat all people with respect.

About the internship:

You will be part of a dynamic and successful Development Team that raises nearly $4 million annually in operating support. You are an undergraduate or graduate student who wants to learn about the different components of a development department and support researching and organizing within our office and database.

You will work closely with our Senior Manager, Development on large projects including conducting and arranging an inventory of all commemorative benches in Prospect Park, supplemented with other important tasks including research on donors and prospects, assist with fall and year end acquisition mailings, and more.

You will have access to experienced Development professionals eager to teach you the tricks of the trade, learn about individual giving, institutional giving, donor relations, fundraising, events, and everything in between. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the park and the Alliance by participating in volunteer opportunities, “Green and Grow” employee development workshops, and have a tour of the park.

Internships can be applied for college credit, and a stipend for travel and lunch is available. Internships require a minimum commitment of 10 weeks, and work schedules are flexible, with a minimum of 15 hours per week.

What we’d like to see in you:

  • Ability to collaborate, receive feedback and remain positive,
  • An appreciation for learning and getting things done,
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines,
  • Ability to communicate with internal teams.

The Alliance is committed to creating an inclusive employee experience for all. Regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or if you’re parenting the next generation, we firmly believe that our work is at its best when everyone feels free to be their most authentic self.
