Graphic Designer (Part Time)

Prospect Park Alliance seeks a part-time graphic designer to produce digital and print design materials for the organization. Reporting to the Creative Director, the graphic designer will be part of a five-person team charged with raising the public profile of the organization, and building and deepening engagement with key audiences. The graphic designer will play a central role in strengthening the brand identity and coordinating photographic assets for the organization, as well as support an array of activities surrounding the Park's upcoming 150th Anniversary.

Prospect Park Alliance is the non-profit organization that sustains, restores and advances Prospect Park, Brooklyn's flagship park, working in partnership with the City. The Alliance cares for the natural environment, preserves historic design, and provides public programming and amenities for the Park, which receives 10 million visits each year. 

Responsibilities:

  • Designs a range of communications and marketing materials – both print and digital.
  • Collaborates with colleagues on concepts for design collateral.
  • Manages projects from concept to completion.
  • Ensures all materials are in line with institutional brand.
  • Manages signage inventory—fabrication, installation and de-installation.

Desired Qualifications

  • One to three years experience working in a graphic design capacity; in-house experience a plus.
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise in both print and digital design.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels and across departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including strong attention to detail and ability to conduct and coordinate multiple tasks under pressure and within deadlines.
  • Familiarity with managing projects and budgets.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Experience resizing and retouching photos in Adobe Photoshop for both print and digital assets.
  • Comfortable designing in either Adobe InDesign and/or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Basic Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • College degree required.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week.  The schedule is flexible between normal business hours (Monday–Friday). This position is not eligible for benefits.
