Prospect Park Alliance Individual Giving Manager

The Prospect Park Alliance is the non-profit organization that sustains, restores and advances Prospect Park, Brooklyn's flagship park, for the benefit of diverse communities, working in partnership with the City of New York. The Alliance cares for the natural environment, preserves historic design, and provides public programming and Park amenities for the Park, which receives 10 million visits each year.

The Prospect Park Alliance seeks a full-time Individual Giving Manager to join a dynamic and successful development team that raises nearly $4 million annually in operating support. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, the Manager steers the Alliance’s Membership and Commemorative Giving programs, generating more than $600,000 annually. In addition, the Manager supports the Alliance’s mid-level giving program and will play a central role in proactively upgrading donors.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the overall direction and sustain the Alliance’s Membership program of 4,000 members, with a special focus on online engagement and  data-driven, creative solutions
  • Create and implement direct marketing strategies and messaging (e.g., direct mail, telemarketing, e-fundraising, and on-site acquisition) to meet and exceed acquisition, retention and upgrade goals for individual donors; manage multichannel membership communications
  • Create and analyze a stable of metrics to assess the performance of the Membership program and inform growth strategy
  • Manage day-to-day logistics and facilitate the growth of the Commemorative Giving program (donor trees and benches)
  • Identify and cultivate mid-level members for upgrades within the Membership program and to the Prospect Partners program
  • Act as a point person for a new digital marketing software (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), utilizing sophisticated tools for fundraising and audience development, and setting up  templates and reports
  • Manage Raiser’s Edge database maintenance, including the Alliance’s relationships with Blackbaud, Classy, and WePay
  • Support the execution of a calendar of engaging membership events in Prospect Park
  • Develop and manage project budgets

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three years of individual giving, membership, and/or direct marketing experience, or comparable development experience, in a non-profit setting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with colleagues across departments and with donors
  • Robust project management skills, to juggle details of multiple projects and budgets simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and editing as well as comfort in making compelling presentations to senior staff
  • Facility with analytics and numbers, and an ability to use data to make decisions
  • Experience working with outside consultants and managing vendor relationships
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required; experience with Raiser’s Edge (or other donor databases) and email marketing systems preferred
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends, as needed
  • A driver's license valid in the state of New York and the ability and willingness to drive Park vehicles
  • The successful candidate for this position will be proactive and able to apply independent project ownership while also being flexible enough to collaborate effectively with team members.
