Manager, Institutional Giving

Prospect Park Alliance’s Manager, Institutional Giving is part of a dynamic and successful Development Team that raises nearly $4 million annually in operating support. This is a great growth opportunity for an individual with programmatic and writing experience. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this position manages all aspects of the Alliance’s institutional giving program, generating more than $800,000 annually, with an emphasis on managing philanthropic grants and growing the Corporate Volunteer Program. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple deadlines, communicate effectively with funders, and support the VP to engage funders in the work of the Alliance and position Prospect Park as an open, inclusive space for all.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and support the Alliance’s long-term institutional funding strategy.
  • Guide the overall direction and grow the Alliance’s Corporate Volunteer Program, including cultivating and renewing current companies, prospecting new companies and ensuring year-round engagement.
  • Identify, prepare and submit philanthropic grant proposals and budgets, in collaboration with institutional giving consultant and organization’s program staff.
  • Organize and prepare supplemental documentation (budgets, timelines, images, CDs) as needed to support grant proposals, reports, and other donor requests.
  • Oversee work of institutional giving consultants, including reviewing upcoming tasks and deadlines and leading regular status meetings.
  • Manage and maintain institutional grant calendar, reporting schedule, and task management documents for corporate and foundation support. Maintain necessary records, files, reports, databases and resource materials pertinent to grant activities.
  • Support and manage the execution of a year-round communications calendar to engage institutional funders.
  • Identify and cultivate new funding prospects in collaboration with organization’s program staff and leadership.
  • Work across departments to facilitate meetings and gather information needed for proposals and reports.
  • Collaborate with organization’s finance and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements.
  • Develop and prepare internal reports and communications as needed.
  • Other development and cultivation-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to three years of corporate and foundation giving, grants management and/or comparable development experience in a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with colleagues across departments and funders.
  • Robust project management skills to juggle details of multiple projects and budgets simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and editing, as well as comfort in making compelling presentations to senior staff.
  • Experience in working with outside consultants and managing vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required; experience with Raiser’s Edge (or other donor databases) preferred.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends, as needed.
  • A driver's license valid in the state of New York and the ability and willingness to drive Park vehicles.
