23rd Annual Quilt Show

Sunday, December 14 , 12 pm – 4 pm, 2014

This year’s exhibit features 16 eclectic quilts on loan from a group show that was curated by The Quilters’ Guild of Brooklyn. Members of the Guild used the theme of “home” to inspire their original creations, which range from traditional to contemporary and beyond. In partnership with Lefferts Historic House and the Quilters’ Guild of Brooklyn

Sunday, December 14 , 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm, 2014

Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House to view interesting relics from 19th-century family life, and explore a fully furnished 1820s bedroom. Also view A Stitch In Time Saves Nine, an exhibition of textiles and costume from the Lefferts collection, which highlights the handwork of women in the textiles arts and the progression to industrialized clothing and textiles. Many of the objects are on display for the first time at Lefferts.

Tours every half hour.

Pop-Up Audubon: Winter Survival

Sunday, December 14 , 12 pm – 4 pm, 2014

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs that explore different areas of Prospect Park each month.

Nature's Helpers, 1–2 pm
Spend some time enjoying nature with the Prospect Park Alliance while helping to keep the Park clean. Learn about mulching, and how it makes the Park green and healthy. Tools, garbage bags and trash grabbers will be provided.

Nature on the Go! 2–3 pm
What would you do if you found yourself lost in the woods; how would you stay warm with only a jacket? Learn what it takes to survive in the wild by participating in activities that will enhance your knowledge of the natural world.

Family Birdwatching, 3–4 pm
Do birds get cold? Watch winter feeder birds and see how they survive in the cold.

Historic Games and Needlework

Join the Prospect Park Alliance to make and play a historic board game, 9-Man Morris, and try your hand at creating a small needlework sampler to take home.

Elevate your holiday spirit with festive 5K in Prospect Park! Supporting the Prospect Park Youth Track Club, registration for this race ncludes a Santa suit for each runner. Suit distribution takes place pre-race at Farrell's pub on Prospect Park West. Get more information

Lefferts Historic House

Bones of an Old Dutch House

Sunday, December 14 , 12 pm – 1 pm, 2014

Examine the white oak timbers (the bones) of Lefferts Historic House and the many layers that were added, subtracted and changed over the past 230 years with the Prospect Park Alliance. Climb the staircase for a view of the attic's smokehouse and descend into the cellar for a look at the foundation.

For adults and teenagers; only 10 people per tour. Reservations required; contact (347) 992-4732.

Curling Open House
