Make Music New York

Sunday, December 21 , 4 pm – 5:30 pm, 2014
2014-12-21T00:00:00-05:00
11225, NY, Brooklyn

Join the Prospect Park Alliance and Make Music New York for a musical winter solstice celebration. Wheels gathers seasoned and casual cyclists to perform a new piece for bicycle bells by composer Nissim Schaul. Using technology developed by Merche Blasco, cyclists will travel in groups along the main loop in Prospect Park, following a score transmitted via a special helmet pre-programmed with lights that cue bicycle bells of different pitches. The groups will come together and split up, performing music that is at once stand alone and complementary, creating concentric circles of sound and echo.

The performance will conclude with a finale at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside, where participants will be treated to a complimentary hot chocolate. Bicycle bells will be distributed to the first 50 participants at the beginning of the parade. Learn more
