Pop-Up Audubon: Macy's Fishing Clinic

Sunday, July 10 , 12 pm – 6 pm, 2016

Join Alliance educators to learn about ecology under the water and in the air! 

  • Macy's Fishing Clinic, 1 + 3 pm: This popular summer program offers kids 15 + under the opportunity to fish.  Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fishing safety and will even get to collect their own bait. First come, first served. RSVP to reserve your spot. Limited drop-in spots are also available.
  • Family Bird Watching, 4:30 pm: Did you know that as an Important Bird Area, Prospect Park supports an exceptional diversity of migrating birds and is an essential stopover for about 250 species of birds?  After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance Naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify these birds!

Smorgasburg Prospect Park

Sunday, July 10 , 11 am – 6 pm, 2016

Smorgasburg, in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance, presents Smorgasburg Prospect Park, which will offer a range of cuisines from local and regional food purveyors on Sundays from 11 am until 6 pm, starting April 3 through October 23, 2016. This highly regarded outdoor food market features 100 vendors offering packaged and prepared food and beverages.

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Nature Play, 10–11 am: Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.
  • Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm:  The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
  • Blooming Naturalists,12–1 pm: So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.
  • Introduction to Bird Watching, Saturdays, 12–1 pm: Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird! But what kind of bird is it? Join the Prospect Park Alliance to learn about the magnificent array of birds that call Prospect Park home. Led by the Brooklyn Bird Club.

Farm Fun

Sunday, July 10 , 2 pm – 4 pm, 2016

Visitors of all ages can come help Alliance educators take care of the potato plot, herb gardens and berry patches by pulling weeds and helping to water. We will provide the tools and gloves, but recommend that you bring a hat and a bottle of water.

Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream

Sunday, July 10 , 7 pm – 9 pm, 2016

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's life & work, New York Classical Theatre returns to Prospect Park for another season of free, outdoor performances. Join the troupe July 6-10 for roving performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream, one of the Bard's most beloved works. 

The performance begins promptly at 7 pm on the north end of the Long Meadow, then roves from place to place for 120 minutes with no intermission. Enter the Park at Grand Army Plaza.
