Are You Fitter Than a 5th Grader?

Saturday, July 23 , 5 pm – 6:30 pm, 2016

Remember how, every year, in elementary school you’d have to do that fitness test? The Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge. You’d have to do sit ups and pull ups – you’d even have to run a mile. Ever wonder if you'd do better now?

This weekend, the team from WNYC's Only Human podcast is getting together to find out “Are You Fitter than a Fifth Grader?” Visit Harmony Playground for a playful throwback to the fitness test.

The event is free, with water and snacks provided, and will be more fun than your 5th grade PE class, promise. The first 10 to arrive will each get a VIP ticket for the Femi Kuti and Bombino performance that night for the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! concert series. RSVP now to reserve your spot.

Femi Kuti + Bombino

Saturday, July 23 , 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm, 2016

Femi Kuti performs at the Bandshell as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, presented in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance. For the latest information, including weather updates, set times, seating configurations, and FAQs, please visit the BRIC website.

Femi Kuti, eldest son of Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, began his career playing in his father’s band Egypt 80 but founded his own group Positive Force in 1986 and has never looked back. Though he has forged his own path and become a world music icon in his own right, “the baton is definitely in his hands.” (Questlove) He’s here with the Tuareg guitar wizard Bombino, “whose pyrotechnic virtuosity in expressing tichumaren (desert blues) has been compared to that of Jimi Hendrix.” (NPR)

Gates open an hour before the performance unless otherwise noted, and all performances are rain or shine.
