Rose Garden

The Connective Project

All Day

In celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Brooklyn’s Backyard, Prospect Park Alliance, AREA4 and Suchi Reddy of Reddymade Architecture & Design are bringing together artists, Brooklyn notables and the public to create a site-specific art installation, on view July 7 through 17, which celebrates the special meaning the Park has in the lives of millions of community members from across the borough and beyond.

Please note that the Rose Garden closes at dusk.

Add your pinwheel to the display during our free, pinwheel-making workshops Thursdays + Fridays from 4-8 pm, and Saturdays + Sundays from 2-6 pm. View our online gallery and learn more about the project!

The Connective Project is an immersive art installation of thousands of pinwheels that will create an evolving, undulating wave of color and beauty that will blanket the two-and-half acre former Rose Garden, a hidden landscape in the Park's northeast corner that is the focus of future restoration by Prospect Park Alliance. Through June 30, the Alliance will hold an open call for submissions from the public to share artwork, photos, verse or prose that express their love of Prospect Park. All submissions will be featured on an online gallery, while select pieces will be printed and transformed into one of 7,000 pinwheels that will be showcased in the Rose Garden, constructed of weather-resistant, compostable paper made from stone dust.

The Connective Project is funded in part by Bloomberg Philanthropies, with additional support from NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, NYC Parks and GSB Digital.
