Nestled inside Prospect Park's tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved weekday market is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods. Nature Exploration

Sunday, July 2 , 10 am – 1 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance for fun nature activities each weekend, and also participate in our 150th anniversary species count for special prizes.

  • Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
  • Blooming Naturalist, 10 am: So you think you are a naturalist? Investigate the natural world by learning how to use tools and guides used by biologist. This activity leads you through activities to discover the Audubon Center and Prospect Park.
  • Nature’s Helpers, 11 am: Learn how to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore, spreading mulch or removing invasive species. This is activity is led by Alliance staff and all materials are provided.

Smorgasburg Prospect Park

Sunday, July 2 , 11 am – 6 pm

Smorgasburg, the celebrated open-air food fair presented by Brooklyn Flea in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance, returns to Prospect Park this spring, kicking off on April 2 as part of Prospect Park's 150th Anniversary celebration! On Sundays through October 23, over 100 local and regional food purveyors will gather on Breeze Hill to offer a range of cuisines. This year, Prospect Park Alliance is partnering with Brooklyn Brewery to produce a special Prospect Park beer called Long Meadow Gold.

Pop-Up Audubon II: Gone Fishin' Clinics

Sunday, July 2 , 12 pm – 5 pm
  • Family Birdwatching: 12-1 pm: After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance Naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify the over 200 species of birds that call the Park home! This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.
  • Prospect Park Audubon Center's Gone Fishin' Clinics: 1:30 + 3:30 pm: Join the Prospect Park Alliance to learn about local fish species, responsible fishing practices, and instruction on how to use our spincasting rods. Instruction, tackle, and bait will be provided. This hour long program starts promptly at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm, late participants cannot be accommodated. Presented by Con Edison.

Pop-Up Audubon II is most suitable for children 8 and over.

Pop-Up Audubon I: Macy’s Fishing Clinic

Sunday, July 2 , 12 pm – 5 pm

Join Alliance educators to learn about ecology under the water and in the air! Pop-Up Audubon I is most suitable for children 8 and under.

  • Macy’s Fishing Clinic, 1 + 3 pm: This popular summer program offers kids 15 & under the opportunity to fish.  Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fishing safety and will even get to collect their own bait. First come, first serve.
  • Family Bird Watching, 4 pm: After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance Naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify the over 200 species birds that call the Park home!

Lefferts Historic House

Tending to a Growing Garden

Sunday, July 2 , 2 pm – 4 pm

Visitors of all ages can come help Prospect Park Alliance take care of the potato plot, herb gardens and berry patches at Lefferts Historic House by pulling weeds and helping to water the plants. Bring a hat and a bottle of water, and we will provide the tools and gloves.

Early Morning Bird Walk: Taking Wing

Sunday, July 2 , 8 am – 9 am

This is the time of year when young birds outnumber adult birds. Join the Prospect Park Alliance in search of fledglings as they test their wings!  Tour leaves promptly at 8 am. Led by the Brooklyn Bird Club.
