Nestled inside Prospect Park's tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved market, occuring every Sunday and Wednesday, is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods. Lunar Zoo Year – Year of the Pig

Sunday, February 3 , 10 am – 4:30 pm, 2019

Visit Prospect Park Zoo weekends in February to celebrate the festival of the new moon and animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Meet Prospect Park Zoo’s three little pigs! Special activities, and a zodiac scavenger hunt are part of the fun. Learn how the Wildlife Conservation Society is helping animals in China and Southeast Asia!

Early Morning Bird Walk: Backyard Birds

Sunday, February 3 , 10 am – 11 am, 2019

Join Prospect Park Alliance and the Brooklyn Bird Club to learn about the Great Backyard Bird Count and search for your favorite “backyard bird” in Prospect Park. Find woodpeckers, chickadees and nuthatches eating from feeders along Prospect Park’s nature trails. Please note this tour leaves promptly at 10 am.

Join the Urban Park Rangers, who are well-versed in outdoor lore. Learn tips and tricks that will enhance your knowledge of the natural world, and might just save your life.

Whether you are preparing for an extended journey through the woods or just want to be more prepared for any situation, an outdoor skills program is the perfect fit for you.

All programs are family friendly but are recommended for ages 8 years and older.

The Means of a Ready Escape: Brooklyn’s Prospect Park

All Day, Sunday, February 3, 2019

On view daily through February 10, 2019.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Prospect Park, Brooklyn Historical Society and Prospect Park Alliance present an exhibition that celebrates the founding vision of the Park, traces its social and historical trajectories, and examines the important role that Prospect Park has played as “Brooklyn’s Backyard” for 150 years. 

The Brooklyn Historical Society is closed on major holidays.
