Spring Sprouts: An Event for Children with ASD

Sunday, April 7 , 11 am – 12 pm, 2019

It's time for spring planting! Join Prospect Park Alliance at the Lefferts Historic House for an exclusive event for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The museum will open an hour early and you and your family can get the farm ready for spring planting. Help remove our winter cover crop, turn the soil and plant our crop of flax as well as make a paper pot and plant seeds to take home. Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in our yard. Have a fun day of interactive learning experiences with sensory-based exhibits and activities in a comfortable, protected and accepting environment.

Nestled inside Prospect Park's tree-shaded southwest corner, this much-loved market, occuring every Sunday and Wednesday, is where South Slope and Windsor Terrace residents stock up on locally grown staples. The offerings range from a selection of vegetables, fruits, baked goods, plants, and flowers, to fresh-caught fish and organic baked goods. Nature Exploration

Sunday, April 7 , 10 am – 1 pm, 2019

Join Prospect Park Alliance every Saturday + Sunday through November for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: Come explore nature on your own with our Discovery Packs, a backpack filled with nature activities and exploration tools, perfect for families and kids to interact with the park in a whole new way!
Animal Encounter, 11 am–12 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 11 am. Animal Encounter is presented in partnership with Macy's.
Nature’s Helpers, 12–1 pm: Help do your part to keep Prospect Park healthy by cleaning up the lakeshore. In this citizen science activity Audubon staff will guide groups to remove litter and record the findings. Fun for all ages and all materials are provided. This program leaves promptly at 12 pm.

Signs of Spring

Signs of Spring are everywhere as animals at the zoo and your own backyard wake up from their winter sleep. Join us every weekend in April to celebrate spring, try out cool activities and science experiments, and learn how to be an urban scientist. Adventure awaits every weekend throughout the zoo!

Early Morning Bird Walk: Changing Seasons, Changing Birds

Sunday, April 7 , 8 am – 9 am, 2019

Join Prospect Park Alliance and the Brooklyn Bird Club to welcome the earliest migrants of the year, and to say good bye to some of our winter residents. This tour is led by the Brooklyn Bird Club and leaves promptly at 8 am.

Smorgasburg

Smorgasburg, the celebrated open-air food fair, returns to Prospect Park this spring! On Sundays from April 7–October 27, over 100 local and regional food purveyors will gather on Breeze Hill to offer a range of cuisines.
