Parade begins at 7th Avenue + 2nd Street, Free
Join the Prospect Park Alliance and the Prospect Park Baseball Association to celebrate the start of the baseball and softball season. Over 1,000 players ages 4-18 years old will parade down 7th Avenue, led by local marching bands and civic leaders, to Long Meadow Ball Field 1, where a ribbon-cutting and ceremonial first pitch will celebrate its recent restoration, and mark the start of the season.
- Nature Exploration, 10 am–1 pm
Prospect Park Audubon Center, Free
Discovery Pack, 10 am–12 pm: The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
Nature Play, 10–11 am: Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.
Blooming Naturalist, 12–1 pm: So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.
Introduction to Bird Watching, 12–1 pm: Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird! But what kind of bird is it? Take a tour and learn about the magnificent array of birds that call Prospect Park home. Led by Brooklyn Bird Club.
- Smorgasburg Prospect Park, 11 am–6 pm (Sunday only)
Enjoy the first Smorgasburg of the season, with over 100 local and regional vendors offering cuisines from around the world at the outdoor food market.
- Prospect Park Carousel, 12–5 pm, $2 per ride; $9 for a book of 5 tickets. Enjoy unlimited, free rides with a Family Plus membership.
Enjoy the first ride of the year at the historic 1912 Carousel, where 53 magnificent horses ride alongside a lion, a giraffe, a deer and two dragon-pulled chariots.
- Spring Sprouts, 2–4 pm
Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation
It's time for spring planting! Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House where you help plant our crop of flax and make a small pot out of newspaper, fill it with soil and plant an herb seed to take home.
