Moliere in the Park: The School for Wives
Enjoy this free and timely performance of this famed Moliere play, starring Tony Award-Winner Tonya Pinkins in a translation by Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Wilbur. When the obsessive bourgeois Arnolphe realizes that his protégé and pupil, 17 year-old Agnès, actually has a mind of her own, he is flabbergasted. Intent on saving face and maintaining control, he doubles down on his decision to marry her, despite the truth staring him in the face. Presented by Moliere in the Park and French Institute Alliance Française, in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance and Theatre for a New Audience.
Two 90-minute performances will take place at 2 pm + 7 pm, each performance will be followed a 20 minute Q&A with the cast; a recording will be available until October 27 at 2 pm.
