Open House New York: LeFrak Center at Lakeside

Open House New York Weekend unlocks the doors of New York’s most iconic areas, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experience the city. This year, Prospect Park Alliance is offering two tours: on Saturday, September 13, enjoy a tour of the LeFrak Center at Lakeside led by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, and on Sunday, September 14, enjoy a Prospect Park Walking Tour with our partners Turnstile Tours. 

The complex offers winter ice skating, summer roller skating, boating, biking and a warm weather water play area. Spanning more than twenty-six acres, the construction of the project included a significant parkland restoration to Prospect Park designers Olmsted and Vaux’s original vision. In addition to the construction of a new recreational facility in place of a former asphalt parking area, the project improved park access and restored key elements of Prospect Park’s original design: Baier Music Island and the White Levy Esplanade.  Since its opening, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside has brought new energy to a once underutilized section of the park for all in Brooklyn and New York City to enjoy.
