Seventh Seal Movie Screening

Join Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks at the north end of the Long Meadow for a movie screening of Seventh Seal, in part of a world wide celebration to mark the 100-year anniversary of the birth of renowned director and writer Ingmar Bergman (1918 – 2007).

The film, Seventh Seal, features a disillusioned and exhausted knight (Max von Sydow) after a decade of battling in the Crusades. The knight encounters Death on a desolate beach, who challenges him to a fateful game of chess. Much studied, imitated, even parodied, but never outdone, Bergman’s stunning allegory of man’s search for meaning, The Seventh Seal (Det sjunde inseglet), was one of the benchmark foreign imports of America’s 1950s art-house heyday, pushing cinema’s boundaries and ushering in a new era of moviegoing.
