Tinariwen

Tinariwen and Cheick Hamala Diabate will perform at the Bandshell as part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, presented in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance.

The GRAMMY Award-winning, guitar shredding desert blues group Tinariwen originally formed while living in exile. Called “music’s true rebels” by NPR, these Tuareg musicians from northern Mali bonded over revolutionary politics and a shared love of the radical chaabi protest music of Morocco, Algerian pop rai, and western artists like Led Zeppelin and Carlos Santana. The night begins with the Malian griot and ngoni master Cheick Hamala Diabate.

Gates open an hour before the performance unless otherwise noted, and all performances are rain or shine. For the latest information, including weather updates, set times, seating configurations, and FAQs, please visit the BRIC website.
