New York Philharmonic Concert in the Park

Friday, June 15 , 8 pm – 10 pm, 2018

The New York Philharmonic partners with Prospect Park Alliance as part of the Philharmonic’s Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer. Following the performance, there will be a display of fireworks to light up the sky.

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch

Democracy Lab

Friday, June 15 , 10 am – 9 pm, 2018

Visit the Democracy Lab at the Spacebuster, an inflatable pavilion or “bubbletecture,” as it sets up shop at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch this June. Enjoy 50 free programs over seven days focused on civic engagement, social justice, freedom and critical thinking—including daily readings of The New York Times moderated by artists and community members, chair-making workshops, artist-led walks, literary cabarets and debates, and presentations on graffiti and green architecture.

Presented by Brooklyn Public Library in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance, raumlaborberlin, Storefront for Art & Architecture, and visitBerlin.

Audubon Center

Shape Up NYC: Healing Hatha Yoga

Friday, June 15 , 12 pm – 1 pm, 2018

Exercise your body and your mind in Brooklyn’s Backyard! Join Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks every Friday through September at the Prospect Park Audubon Center for Hatha yoga, a branch of yoga that emphasizes physical exercises to master the body along with mind exercises to withdraw it from external objects.

This class is open to adults and seniors, no registration is required. All levels are welcome. Please bring your own mat.

Nature Exploration

Friday, June 15 , 12 pm – 4 pm, 2018

Join Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Discovery Pack, 12–3 pm: Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our Discovery Packs, ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.
  • Bird Nerd Game Hour, 1–2 pm: Learn about birds and nature in this fun, mildly competitive hour of puzzles, Bingo, card games, and more!
  • Animal Encounter, 2–3 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm.
  • Nature on the Go!, 3–4 pm: An Alliance Naturalist will lead children and families to areas near the Audubon Center, where you can learn about the nature that is all around us. This program leaves promptly at 3 pm.

Eid al-Fitr at Prospect Park

Join Prospect Park Alliance on Eid al-Fitr for special family programming at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, Lefferts Historic House, and the 1912 Carousel!

  • Prospect Park Audubon Center 12–4 pm, Free
    Join Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

    Get out and get moving in the Lefferts yard! The whole family can participate in potato sack races, spoon races, stilts and other old fashioned games.

  • Carousel Rides, 12–5 pm
    Children’s Corner, $2.50 per ride, $11.50 for a book of 5 tickets, free with Alliance Family Supporter membership
    Celebrate the start of spring with a first ride of the year on the Park’s beloved 1912 carousel. Join the Alliance at the $150 level and your family (up to 4 people) will receive unlimited rides on the Carousel for a full year!

The Means of a Ready Escape: Brooklyn’s Prospect Park

All Day, Friday, June 15, 2018

On view daily through February 10, 2019.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Prospect Park, Brooklyn Historical Society and Prospect Park Alliance present an exhibition that celebrates the founding vision of the Park, traces its social and historical trajectories, and examines the important role that Prospect Park has played as “Brooklyn’s Backyard” for 150 years. 

The Brooklyn Historical Society is closed on major holidays.
