Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Prospect Park Alliance, Inc. (PPA) is committed to the privacy of our online and offline supporters, including members, online users, donors, event attendees and visitors. PPA operates in accordance with the following privacy policy. By providing PPA with your information online or offline, you consent to the terms of this privacy policy.

Data Collection

When You Make a Donation or Purchase a Membership or Event Ticket/Table Online or Offline
When making a donation and/or purchasing a membership, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information necessary to process and service your request. This may include your name, billing and shipping postal addresses, membership number, telephone number, e-mail address, and credit card number. When making a donation and or purchasing a membership online, your credit card information will be temporarily stored on a secured server only for as long as necessary to process your payment. When making a donation and or purchasing a membership over the phone or via printed materials, your credit card information will be maintained only long enough to process and verify payment, then destroyed.

When You Send PPA an E-mail
PPA is pleased to receive e-mails from you. Should you choose to send an e-mail to PPA, your message and e-mail address will be forwarded to the appropriate department within PPA and we will save your e-mail as part of our permanent records. Please be aware that any message, material, ideas, concepts, or other information sent to PPA by e-mail will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.

When You Sign Up for a Volunteer Activity
When you register to be a PPA volunteer, we may request your phone number in order to contact you for a phone interview. Should you participate further in the volunteer recruitment process, PPA may request that you appear in person for an additional interview and you will be required to complete an application, including your name, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, and photo ID.

Use of Information

Internal Use
We will use your personally identifiable information in order to respond to your request or process your contribution. Your credit card information will be temporarily stored on a secured server only for as long as necessary to process your payment, or in the case of phone or print contributions, maintained only long enough to process and verify payment, then destroyed.

We may use your information to inform you of events, send you PPA newsletters, request monetary contributions and send you promotions and updates about the Park. Out of respect for your privacy, e-mail recipients may opt out of receiving e-mails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in the e-mail message, e-mailing membership@prospectpark.org, or calling 718-965-8965.

From time to time, PPA will provide you with the opportunity to participate in surveys. Unless we inform you otherwise, your voluntary participation in these surveys is completely anonymous. We use the information gathered from the surveys to improve the experience of visitors to Prospect Park and PPA’s website.

PPA may combine the information you provide us online with other personally identifiable information in order to better serve our visitors.

PPA’s website automatically collects some anonymous “non-personally identifiable” aggregate information, which may include visitors’ browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer or Firefox), operating systems (e.g., Windows or Macintosh), Internet Service Providers, and other similar information. The information collected is used for statistical purposes to monitor how PPA’s online visitors navigate our website, allowing us to tailor our website to better accommodate our visitors.

External Use

Third Party Vendors
PPA may engage third-party vendors in order to help us better service our visitors and customers. PPA requires its vendors by contract to maintain the confidentiality and security of PPA information to which they are provided access and restricts the vendors from using the information in any way not expressly authorized by PPA. In cases when users leave PPA’s website to visit one of its vendor’s websites, users are encouraged to become familiar with the privacy statement of each website they visit.

Sharing PPA’s List of Supporters
PPA may, on occasion, share the name and the mailing or email address of members and supporters with other like-minded organizations. Exchanging our list with other reputable charitable organizations is the most cost effective way to find new supporters. As part of PPA’s exchange policy, other organizations will have access to a shared list for a limited time and will not have continued access to PPA’s list unless an individual voluntarily chooses to respond to their initial mailing. If you prefer not to have your name and address shared in this way, you may request to have your information removed from a shared list at any time by contacting website@prospectpark.org. You will also have regular opportunities to opt-out by checking the appropriate box or following the instructions located on solicitation materials. PPA will not intentionally disclose any personal information about you (such as your name, street address, telephone number, credit card number, or e-mail address) to any third party if you elect to opt out.
Please note: PPA does not rent or sell donor lists.

Links to Other Websites
Users may find content on PPA’s website that links to the websites and services of our partners, sponsors, or other third parties. In many cases, these links represent cooperative projects, or are established with persons or entities that have a significant connection to or relationship with our website. Although every effort is made to ensure that website referrals are to reputable and relevant sources, PPA does not control the content or links that appear on these websites. In addition, these websites or services, including their content and links, may change. These websites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies, or no policy at all. PPA maintains a policy against the non-consensual collection or sharing of personal information and encourages visitors to review the privacy policies of any websites they visit to ensure their personal information is being protected.

For recurring donations your financial and contact data is stored by a payment partner in accordance with industry standards. Only the payment partner has access to your credit card number. We do not have access to your credit card number. Data handled by a payment partner is subject to that payments partner’s terms and privacy policy.
