Alliance President Honored in Brooklyn Org 25
October 29, 2026
Morgan Monaco, President of Prospect Park Alliance, was recognized as part of this year’s Brooklyn Org 25, a group of 25 leaders from across the borough recognized annually as changemakers whose work makes a lasting transformation in our communities.
Monaco was honored as a changemaker in the “Preserving Our Arts and Culture” category. Since its founding in 1987, the Alliance has focused on revitalizing the park through its award-winning restoration of its historic landscapes and buildings, including the recent restoration of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza.
The Alliance also presents a range of cultural programs that celebrate Brooklyn’s diverse communities. Through its ReImagine Lefferts initiative, the Alliance has transformed its historic house museum, shifting its focus to exploring the lives, resistance and resilience of the Indigenous people of Lenapehoking, whose unceded ancestral lands the park and house rests upon, and the Africans enslaved by the Lefferts family. Recent programs include the Third United Lenape/Lunáapeew Nations Pow Wow, and the exhibits, Black People and the Battle of Brooklyn and The Shirley Chisholm Way: Brooklyn’s Blueprint for Change.

The Alliance also partners with leading arts producers to present signature programs such as the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, Shakespeare in the Park presented by the Public’s Mobile Unit, and Moliere in the Park.
As Alliance President, Monaco sets the vision and overall strategy for Brooklyn’s flagship park. She leads a workforce of more than 200 Alliance and NYC Parks staff and oversees fundraising and revenue-generating activities that provide $18 million in operating support for the park each year to care for the park’s natural areas, restore buildings and landscapes, create innovative park destinations, and provide free and low-cost volunteer, education and recreation programs.
On October 28, Brooklyn Org hosted the Changemakers Ball at Powerhouse Arts to honor the vital contributions of this year’s Brooklyn Org 25. In partnership with Photoville, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and Two Trees Management, Brooklyn Org also unveiled “We The People,” a photo installation featuring this year’s Brooklyn Org 25, with portraits by photographer Aundre Larrow, which will be on view at The Plaza at 300, starting October 30 through the month of November.
