Benchmarks at the Parade Ground
The Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) presents Benchmarks, a student-created visual art installation in partnership with NYC Parks and Prospect Park Alliance. On view along the Parade Ground entrance walkway at Caton Avenue and Argyle Road, three inspiring murals are painted on benches, created by Brooklyn public school students in grades 6-8. The murals are centered on student-selected themes including the importance of caring for our earth and environment, and the need to stop cyberbullying.
Benchmarks is a student arts residency program that inspires young people to tackle major social issues and become engaged citizens through creating large-scale, meaningful artwork on benches for public display, to effect social change.
These bench murals are part of a citywide exhibition with NYC Parks of 20 bench murals created by students citywide. Other exhibition sites across New York City include: Thomas Jefferson Park (Manhattan), Reverend T. Wendell Foster Park (Bronx), and Clove Lakes Park (Staten Island). Learn more about CEI.
