Creepy Crawly Halloween

Take a second look at the creatures that give you the creeps, you may find you like them! Participate in fun activities and experiments that will make your spine tingle at Prospect Park Alliance’s Creepy Crawly Halloween.

Nature Detective, 10 am–4 pm

What creepy, crawly and curious creatures are hiding in Prospect Park? Borrow a sketchbook and observation guide, then explore indoors and outdoors for spiders, bats, insects, plants, and other wild discoveries. Look closely, sketch what you find, and uncover the mysteries of nature hiding all around you.

Owl Pellet Dissection, 11 am–2pm

Participants will have the opportunity to pick apart owl pellets, masses of undigested parts of food that owl species occasionally regurgitate!

Nature Chef’s Surprise!, 12–3 pm

Our nature chef has some tasty treats for you to try that are delicious, nutritious, and crunchy!  Take a nibble and earn a special certificate and boasting button.  Learn how this mystery treat is a sustainable alternative protein source that has nutritional benefits.

Creepy Crawly Walk, 1–2 pm + 3–4pm

Participants will search for Prospect Park’s creepy residents and explore the park.
