Join the Prospect Park Alliance during Spring Break for family-friendly activities at favorite Park destinations, April 3–12. 

Nature Exploration
Prospect Park Audubon Center, Free

  • Blooming Naturalist, 1 pm
    So you think you are a naturalist? Join Alliance educators to make your own nature journal, learning how to use binoculars and field guides.
  • Nature on the Go! 3 pm
    An Alliance naturalist will lead children and families to areas near the Audubon Center, where you can learn about the nature that is all around us and participate in a citizen science project. Nature on the Go! will not meet on Saturday, April 11. 
  • Animal Encounter, 4 pm
    Curious as to how Snappy the turtle got her name? Want to watch the snake gobble a mouse? Join Alliance naturalists to meet the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. Learn what it takes to care for these amazing creatures and assist in an actual feeding. Animal Encounter will not meet on Saturday, April 11. 

Spring Sprouts, 2–4 pm
Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation

It’s time for spring planting! Join the Alliance at Lefferts Historic House where you can make a small pot out of newspaper, fill it with soil and plant an herb seed to take home.

Carousel Rides, 12–5 pm
Children’s Corner, $2 per ride, $9 for a book of 5 tickets, free with Alliance Family Plus membership

Celebrate the start of spring with a first ride of the year on the Park’s beloved 1912 carousel. Join the Alliance at the $125 level and your family (up to 4 people) will receive unlimited rides on the Carousel for a full year!

Presidents Week Tennis Program

The Prospect Park Tennis Center offers intensive group instruction for adults and children of all levels of experience. Our accomplished staff of tennis professionals gives players personal attention while they acquire game fundamentals and increase their skill level. Players must register in advance.

Carousel Opening Weekend

Celebrate the start of spring with a first ride of the year on the Park’s beloved 1912 carousel. Join the Prospect Park Alliance at the $125 level and your family (up to 4 people) will receive unlimited rides on the Carousel for a full year!

Alliance Nature Programs
Prospect Park Audubon Center, Free

  • Winter in the Wild, 1–3 pm: Bundle up and find out what your favorite Park animals are up to this winter. Join Alliance educators to discover the winter survival strategies of animals that live in Prospect Park. Enjoy nature games, naturalist-led tours, and more!
  • Great Backyard Bird Count, 2–3 pm: Where are winter finches and other visiting species? Help Alliance naturalists track North American bird populations; see if late winter movements of songbirds and waterfowl are as far north as they were last year, and if winter weather influenced the region’s bird populations.

Come to Lefferts Historic House for some great indoor fun. Learn how to play Nine-Man Morris and make your very own playing board to take home.

View significant artifacts from 19th century family life and walk into a fully furnished 1820s bedroom. Tours every half hour.

 

Brooklyn’s Largest Menorah Lighting

Celebrate Chanukah with live music, hot latkes, and gifts for children! The menorah will be lit each day of Chanukah: Friday’s lighting is scheduled for 3:30 pm and Saturday’s lighting takes place at 7:00 pm.
