Al Goldstein Summer Speed Series 5K

Lace up your shoes and ready yourself for the sound of that sweet, sweet airhorn because the Al Goldstein Summer Speed Series 5K races are back in person for 2021! Prospect Park Track Club’s  5k race series will take place every other Wednesday evening over the summer, on May 26, June 9, June 23, July 7, July 21, August 4, and August 18.

The course consists of slightly less than one loop of Prospect Park, and will start and end on the East Drive near the LeFrak Center at Lakeside.

Play + Go and Nature’s Helpers

Join Prospect Park Alliance at pop-up locations around the park and surrounding neighborhoods as we bring our favorite activities from the Prospect Park Audubon Center and Lefferts Historic House on the road in easy-to-borrow Pop-Up Lefferts and Pop-Up Audubon Play + Go Kits. Pick up to five (5) items and mix and match historic games and toys, or nature games and activities. While you are here, you can participate in our new Nature’s Helpers activities by lending a hand and participating in stewardship activities such as raking, litter patrol or mulching and afterwards, take a fun nature walk and explore the natural wonders of the park or search for the many historic elements that are scattered all around us.

The Pop-Up Lefferts Play + Go Kit features a fun assortment of historic games that include Quoits, Rolling Hoops, Game of Graces, Checkers, and Mancala. Take home games such as Nine-Man Morris, Igba-Ita Game of Chance, Lenape Dice Game or a DIY Scented Sachet Kit. Pop-Up Lefferts is supported in part by NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

The Pop-Up Audubon Play + Go Kits feature a range of fun nature activities and games, as well as a birdwatching checklist with binoculars, and much more. Families and children can enjoy nature on their own as they explore and learn more about the park. Pop-Up Audubon is made possible through the generous support of Con Edison.

Prospect Park Walking Tours

Discover hidden treasures, natural wonders and little-known tales on an interactive, socially-distanced guided tour of Prospect Park, presented by Turnstile Tours in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance. While taking in the beauty of this iconic park’s woodlands, waterways, wildlife, and landmarks, explore the fascinating layers of natural and human history, from the flora and geology, to the architectural eras visible in the built environment, to the past and present of recreation and play. Explore how use of the park has changed over time, from the original vision of designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, to projects underway today that support environmental conservation, historic preservation, and recreational and cultural access for Brooklynites and visitors from around the world.

NYRR Running History Tour

#GetOutToRun with New York Road Runners at an NYRR Prospect Park Running History Tour, presented in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance. Zen Zoo Yoga: Shape Up NYC

Join Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks for this fun and mindful Shape Up NYC class for kids. Our instructor will teach Asana yoga, which is based on animal forms and shapes. Yoga for kids helps foster self confidence, compassion, visualization and laughter. This class is open to children under 18, no registration is required. All levels are welcome.

This event will take place during every other Saturday, throughout the months of July and August.

Prospect Park Walking Tour

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Prospect Park on this special series of guided walking tours! These tours will examine the Park’s many layers of natural and human history. Prospect Park is a reflection of Brooklyn; its history traces that of the city around it, and it is today an important gathering place for many diverse communities that call the borough home. Learn about Prospect Park Alliance’s historic restoration and environmental preservation work in the Park, including cultural and recreation projects currently underway.
