Intro to Birdwatching

Look! Up in the sky, it’s a bird! But what kind of bird is it? Take a tour and learn about the magnificent array of birds that call Prospect Park home. Led by Brooklyn Bird Club.

Early Morning Bird Walk: Changing Seasons, Changing Birds

Join Prospect Park Alliance to welcome the earliest migrants of the year, and to say goodbye to some of our winter residents. This birdwatching tour is led by the Brooklyn Bird Club and leaves promptly at 8 am.

Prospect Park History Walking Tour

Explore Prospect Park with a season of special guided walking tours of this iconic park in the heart of Brooklyn, presented by Turnstile Tours in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance. These two-hour tours will examine the Park’s many layers of natural and human history, from the flora and geology to the architectural eras visible in the built environment.

Please note there will not be a regular tour on Sunday, October 14, due to Open House New York. Learn more on the OHNY website.

Smorgasburg Prospect Park

Smorgasburg, the celebrated open-air food fair presented by Brooklyn Flea in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance, returns to Prospect Park this spring, kicking off on April 2 as part of Prospect Park’s 150th Anniversary celebration! On Sundays through October 23, over 100 local and regional food purveyors will gather on Breeze Hill to offer a range of cuisines. This year, Prospect Park Alliance is partnering with Brooklyn Brewery to produce a special Prospect Park beer called Long Meadow Gold.

Summer Stories + Songs

Climb up in the wagon or find a seat in the shade and enjoy summer songs and stories with a masterful storyteller. Resident storyteller Tammy Hall weaves together diverse tales from around the world to create a rich experience for all.

Smorgasburg Prospect Park

Smorgasburg, in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance, presents Smorgasburg Prospect Park, which will offer a range of cuisines from local and regional food purveyors on Sundays from 11 am until 6 pm, starting April 3 through October 23, 2016. This highly regarded outdoor food market features 100 vendors offering packaged and prepared food and beverages.

Nature Exploration

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Nature Play, 10–11 am
    Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.

  • Discovery Pack, 10–12 pm
    The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.

  • Blooming Naturalists, 12–1 pm
    So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.
