Spring Ephemerals in Brooklyn's Backyard

Spring has arrived in Prospect Park, and Brooklyn’s Backyard is flourishing with vibrant hues throughout its 585 acres. In March you may have spotted the park's natural areas slowly waking up from winter with non-native but beautiful early blooms like Crocus (Crocus species), Daffodil (Narcissus species) and Snow drop (Galanthus nivalis). As Spring is now in full swing, don’t miss some of Prospect Park Alliance’s fleeting favorites and first native ground plants to bloom–our spring ephemerals, found sprouting up in April and May. Click through to get to know the Spring blooms you might see throughout Prospect Park, and remember to Be a Park Champion and admire blooms from afar, and stay on paths at all times. c. Bianca Nelson
