School is out for the Mid-Winter Recess and Prospect Park is the place to be! Sharpen your skills at President’s Week clinics at the Tennis Center, designed for all ages and skill levels. Visit the Boathouse for free nature fun, animal encounters and winter walks, or enjoy public ice skating in the morning, afternoon, or evening at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside. There’s something for everyone in Brooklyn’s Backyard!

Presidents’ Week Tennis Program

Celebrate Presidents’ Week at the Prospect Park Tennis Center! From February 16–20, players of all ages and skill levels are invited to join our team of experienced tennis pros for group instruction, skill-building drills, and engaging gameplay designed to strengthen fundamentals, improve technique, and build confidence on the court. Whether it’s your first time picking up a racket or you’re looking to fine-tune your game, there’s something for everyone this holiday week. Players must register in advance.

Mid-Winter Recess Nature Programs

Join Prospect Park Alliance for free nature education programs from February 16–20 from 12–4 pm at the Lefrak Center at Lakeside. Advance registration is not required.

  • Nature Around Us, 12–4 pm: Explore seasonal discovery stations and nature themed activities that will introduce you to the plants, insects and animals that call the park home.
  • Pinecone Bird Feeders, 12–3 pm: Help support our Backyard birds during the scarce winter. By making a vegetarian version of Suet, a nutritious substitute for wintering birds that rely on insects for food. This activity takes approximately 30 minutes.*Allergy Warning: contains nuts.*
  • Winter Wilderness Walk, 3–4 pm: Curious about animal tracks in the snow, how trees survive without leaves, or how bugs stay warm? Join an Alliance Naturalist for a tour of how plants and animals live in the winter months. This program will be suspended in the event of unsafe weather conditions.

Public Skate Sessions at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside

Experience Brooklyn’s premier ice skating destination at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park,  welcoming skaters of all ages and skills levels for over a decade to glide across the ice in a beautiful park setting. Enjoy public skating sessions in the morning, afternoon, or evening, perfect for family outings, friendly gatherings, or date nights. With two exceptional rinks, the scenic Open Air rink and Covered rink, skating is available all winter long in a comfortable and inviting environment.
