Lefferts Historic House

Lefferts Historic House Tours

Sunday, October 19 , 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm, 2014

Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House to view interesting relics from 19th-century family life, and explore a fully furnished 1820s bedroom. Also view A Stitch In Time Saves Nine, an exhibition of textiles and costume from the Lefferts collection, which highlights the handwork of women in the textiles arts and the progression to industrialized clothing and textiles. Many of the objects are on display for the first time at Lefferts.

Tours every half hour.

Pop Up Audubon: Fantastic Foliage

Sunday, October 19 , 12 pm – 5 pm, 2014

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs that explore different areas of Prospect Park each month.

Nature on the Go!, 2–3 pm
Brooklyn's last-remaining forest becomes a real-world laboratory for hands-on discovery. Join the Prospect Park Alliance for an in-depth look at the largest organism within this habitat (trees) and discover the important role forests play in providing different habitats for the Park’s wildlife.

Nature’s Helpers, 3–4 pm
Enjoy nature while helping to keep the Park clean. Learn about mulching, and how it makes the Park green and healthy. Tools, garbage bags and trash grabbers will be provided.

Family Bird Watching, 4–5 pm
Join the Prospect Park Alliance to learn about fall migration in Prospect Park.

Lefferts Historic House

Scharen Knippen

Sunday, October 19 , 2 pm – 4 pm, 2014

Celebrate fall with the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House for an old Dutch craft of paper cutting called Scharen Knippen. Cut out autumn and Halloween scenes and patterns, some designed in the 19th century by Mrs. Abigail Lefferts Lloyd herself!
