The Prospect Park Alliance invites families and elementary-school-aged community groups to help clean up the Children’s Corner!

Children will learn the importance of giving back to the community, while making a meaningful difference in the Park where they learn, play and grow.

Individuals can sign up online.  Groups should pre-register. For more information, contact the Alliance at (718) 287-3400 or volunteers@prospectpark.org.

Lefferts Historic House

Lefferts Historic House Tours

Join the Prospect Park Alliance at Lefferts Historic House to view interesting relics from 19th-century family life, and explore a fully furnished 1820s bedroom. Also view A Stitch In Time Saves Nine, an exhibition of textiles and costume from the Lefferts collection, which highlights the handwork of women in the textiles arts and the progression to industrialized clothing and textiles. Many of the objects are on display for the first time at Lefferts.

Tours every half hour.

Pop-Up Audubon: Prospect Park Geology

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs that explore different areas of Prospect Park each month.

Nature’s Helpers, 1–2 pm
Spend time enjoying nature, while helping to keep the Park clean. Learn about mulching, and how it makes the Park green and healthy. Tools, garbage bags and trash grabbers will be provided.

Nature on the Go!, 2–3 pm
Ever wonder about the history of the Park’s varied landscapes? Did dinosaurs ever roam this land? Join the Prospect Park Alliance for a hike around the Park to view some of its important geologic features. Participants will learn how to use a hand lens and identify different types of rocks.

Family Birdwatching, 3–4 pm
Learn how to identify common birds that populate the Park in the winter months.

NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon

The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon follows the legacy of a great institution, the New York City Marathon. Originally run entirely in Central Park, the NYC Marathon has become the largest marathon in the world. This event offers an alternative—a small, community-focused event confined to the 3.33-mile loop around Prospect Park. Register for this event.
