Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Discovery Pack, 12–4 pm

In May, monitor the development of plants that supply food and shelter for birds in Prospect Park.
  • Bird Nerds Game Hour, 2–3 pm
Test your knowledge of birds in this fun, mildly competitive hour of puzzles, Bingo, card games, and more!
  • Nature on the Go!, 3 pm
An Alliance Naturalist will lead children and families to areas near the Audubon Center, where you can learn about the nature that is all around us and participate in a Citizen Science project.
  • Animal Encounter, 4 pm
Curious as to how Snappy the turtle got her name? Want to watch the snake gobble a mouse? Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection and even assist in an actual feeding.

Celebrate Brooklyn!: eighth blackbird

Thursday, June 18 , 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm, 2015

eighth blackbird performs at the Bandshell as part of Celebrate Brooklyn!, presented by BRIC in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance. For the latest information, including weather updates, set times, seating configurations, and FAQs, please visit the BRIC website

A double bill of extraordinary collaborations: the Grammy winning “super-musicians” (LA Times) of eighth blackbird, an impeccable sextet with the energy and audacity of a rock band, team up with revered singer-songwriter Will Oldham on a program that will include Frederic Rzewski’s powerful spoken word piece “Coming Together,” as well as arrangements of Oldham’s songs, material by Bryce Dessner, and other works. The other half features Bill Frisell, who “plays the guitar like Miles Davis played the trumpet: in the hands of such radical thinkers, their instruments simply become different animals,” (New Yorker) and folk revivalist Sam Amidon, whose “highly personal approach opens a window on the American past and lets us feel it like nothing else around.” (NPR)

Gates open an hour before the performance unless otherwise noted, and all performances are rain or shine.
