Nature Exploration

Sunday, July 5 , 10 am – 1 pm, 2015

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Nature Play, 10–11 am
    Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.

  • Discovery Pack, 10–12 pm
    The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.

  • Blooming Naturalists, 12–1 pm
    So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.

Pop-Up Audubon: Macy’s Fishing Clinics

Sunday, July 5 , 12 pm – 6 pm, 2015

Join the Alliance to explore aquatic and avian ecology in Prospect Park.

  • Macy’s Fishing Clinics, 1-2 pm & 3-4 pm: This popular summer program offers kids 15 & under the opportunity to fish.  Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fishing safety and will even get to collect their own bait. First come, first serve.
  • Family Bird Watching, 4:30–5:30 pm: Did you know that as an Important Bird Area, Prospect Park supports an exceptional diversity of migrating birds and is an essential stopover for about 250 species of birds?  After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance Naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify these birds!

Pop-Up Audubon II: Fishing Fun

Sunday, July 5 , 12 pm – 6 pm, 2015

Early Morning Birdwalk: Taking Wing

Sunday, July 5 , 8 am – 9 am, 2015

This is the time of year when young birds out number adult birds.  Join us in search of fledglings as they test their wings!  Led by the Brooklyn Bird Club. This tour leaves promptly at 8 am.

Lefferts Historic House

Fun on the Farm

Sunday, July 5 , 2 pm – 5 pm, 2015

Visitors of all ages can come help the Lefferts staff take care of the potato plot, herb gardens, and berry patches by pulling weeds and helping to water. Bring a hat and a bottle of water and we will provide the tools and gloves.
