Nature Exploration

Sunday, August 23 , 10 am – 1 pm, 2015

Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.

  • Nature Play, 10–11 am
    Join Alliance naturalists and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and develop self-reliance, creativity and problem-solving skills through different outdoor play-based activities.

  • Discovery Pack, 10–12 pm
    The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.

  • Blooming Naturalists, 12–1 pm
    So you think you are a Naturalist? Find out at the Audubon Center by learning how to identify birds and use binoculars and field guides.

Pop-Up Audubon: Macy’s Fishing Clinics

Sunday, August 23 , 12 pm – 6 pm, 2015

Join the Alliance to explore aquatic and avian ecology in Prospect Park.

  • Macy’s Fishing Clinics, 1 pm & 3 pm: This popular summer program offers kids 15 & under the opportunity to fish.  Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fishing safety and will even get to collect their own bait. First come, first serve.
  • Family Bird Watching, 4:30 pm: Did you know that as an Important Bird Area, Prospect Park supports an exceptional diversity of migrating birds and is an essential stopover for about 250 species of birds?  After learning how to use binoculars, participants of all ages can join Alliance Naturalists on a walk to learn how to identify these birds!

Pop-Up Audubon II: Fishing Fun

Sunday, August 23 , 12 pm – 6 pm, 2015

Join the Alliance to explore aquatic and avian ecology in Prospect Park.

  • Family Fishing Clinics, 1–2 pm & 3–4 pm: This popular summer program offers kids 15 & under the opportunity to fish.  Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fishing safety and will even get to collect their own bait. First come, first serve.
  • Family Bird Watching, 4:30–5:30 pm: After learning how to use binoculars, join our naturalists to identify some of the 250 species of birds that call Prospect Park home.

Lefferts Historic House

Historic Games

Sunday, August 23 , 2 pm – 5 pm, 2015

Come relax in the shade of the Lefferts yard and learn how to play Nine Man Morris, a historic board game. Afterwards you can make your own board to take home with you. You can also challenge a friend to a game of checkers or try some historic hoop games and stilt walking.

Parkside Plaza GreenMarket

Sunday, August 23 , 8 am – 4 pm, 2015

Located across from the southeast corner of Prospect Park, at Parkside and Ocean Aves, this Sunday market will feature six producers selling fresh vegetables, fruits, cheese, milk, herbs, eggs, honey, meats, yarn, baked goods and more. Lefferts Historic House

Battle of Brooklyn Monuments Tour

Sunday, August 23 , 11 am – 1 pm, 2015

Join the Alliance for a guided tour from the Lefferts Historic House down East Drive to view some of Prospect Park's Revolutionary War Monuments. Hear accounts of the battle as remembered by Femmetie Lefferts and tour the home she built with her husband Pieter Lefferts. This tour leaves promptly at 11 am.
